Old Fashioned Hot Cocoa
¼ cup sugar (or honey or maple syrup)
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
Dash salt
3 tablespoons hot water
2 cups milk (or almond, soy, or cashew milk)
¼ teaspoon vanilla
12 miniature marshmallows
Mix sugar, cocoa, and salt in a saucepan. Stir in hot water. Heat on medium, stirring constantly, until boiling. Boil and stir 2 minutes.
Stir in milk. Heat until warm. Remove from heat. Add vanilla. Pour into mugs and top with marshmallows. Yield: 2 servings
- Heat 2 cups milk (or chocolate almond, soy, etc. milk) in a saucepan until warm. Add 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup and 2 teaspoons sugar; stir to dissolve. Pour into mugs. Add miniature marshmallows.
- Heat 2 cups milk (or chocolate almond, soy, etc. milk) in a saucepan until warm. Add 2-4 tablespoons sweetened chocolate powder; stir. Pour into mugs. Add miniature marshmallows.
- Heat 2 cups chocolate milk (or chocolate almond, soy, etc. milk) in a saucepan until warm. Pour into mugs. Add miniature marshmallows.
- Heat 2 cups water. Pour one packet (or spoon a few tablespoons) of hot cocoa mix into mugs. Add hot water; stir. Add miniature marshmallows.
